    May 2025

As I prepare for this pilgrimage… The Way of St. James …to Santiago De Compostela, in the Northwest corner of Spain. I can’t help but feel giddy about this epic solo adventure that I am about to embark on.

The signs are everywhere for me.

Even though I don’t physically leave for my pilgrimage for another 3 1/2 months, I feel like I have already left.

After a nonstop 11 hour flight to Lisbon, Portugal, a 2 1/2 hour train to Porto, Portugal, a 2 1/2 day stay in Porto and then a final 45 minute train to Esposende, Portugal. I will start to WALK the Camino de Santiago.

I will walk 213.4 km, in miles that is 132.5 miles. I will do this over 12 days averaging 10 to 15 miles a day.

As is the tradition of walking this historical pilgrimage, the distance one walks daily is referred to as stages, so therefore moving forward in my story I will now refer to my daily walks as stages.

In my research of this pilgrimage in the various guidebooks, podcasts, Facebook groups, one can find a set distance of stages, already designated, if one wants to follow that schedule. But in the end, this is My Camino, My Way and my stages will be averaging 10 miles to 15 miles day, for 12 days in a row…..

    June / July

I continue to train…3 days a week I do my body pump class, which I have been doing for the last 10 years, I take a Pilates reformer class once a week and just recently I joined Orange Theory to work on cardio and treadmIll workout. I try and get out once a week and hike a trail and hike anyway from 4 to 10 miles.

I feel like I will definitely be ready for this!
